All Saints' College young leaders shine

Two All Saints’ College students were recently recognised for their achievements as young leaders and awarded Australian Defence Force (ADF) Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards. Phoebe Anderson (Year 12) and Emma Calder (Year 10) were presented with the awards as recognition of their achievements at the College and within the local community.

“Emma is an outstanding young leader. She is an effective communicator and works exceptionally well with her peers to achieve positive outcomes. Always respectful, Emma operates with integrity and a genuine wiliness to assist and support others,” said Ms Haendel.

Ms Haendel said that Phoebe exemplifies numerous qualities of an effective leader.

“She is a student who always operates with integrity and is willing to be of service to others. She values contributing to the community as demonstrated through her involvement in the Red Shield Appeal.”

The Long Tan Awards encourage leadership and teamwork among school-aged students as integral parts of their personal development and their contribution towards enhancing community spirit in both the school and the broader community.

The awards began in 2006 and were named after the Battle of Long Tan to recognise the values exhibited in that action, such as determination, mateship, tenacity and compassion and to encourage these qualities among students. They are also aimed at raising awareness of the Australian Defence Force throughout the community.
