‘Opportunities’ Program

Coeducation is education for life. Naturally

‘Opportunities’ Program

We maximise the engagement of our diverse community of learners.

Our Strategic Plan 2019 – 2023 states Goal 2, to optimise student learning, in conjunction with Goal 1, fostering student wellbeing. Our staff, in partnership with our families, aim to provide an inclusive and differentiated learning environment where all students are challenged, engaged and supported. Staff are cognisant of and celebrate the reality that all students have different interests, strengths and abilities and we aspire to provide the experiences and opportunities that develop these into talents. We equally understand that students, due to a range of factors, may have gaps in their learning and require extra support.

Our team of specialist staff collaborate with classroom teachers with the aim that learning is optimised for all. This team of staff bring their expertise and perspectives together regularly to discuss student needs and evaluate program effectiveness.

We are energised by Vygotsky’s famous quote “Children grow into the intellectual life of those around them” as cited in Richhart, (2015) and so;

We aim for ALL STUDENTS to thrive, as part of a dynamic community of learners, through our:

  • Broad and diverse curriculum
  • Teacher responsiveness to the learner
  • Inquiry learning approach
  • Differentiated opportunities
  • Use of routines that develop deep thinking
  • Partnership with students and parents
  • Support of student-initiated projects
